DOCUMENTARY ALIVE AND WELL IN COLOGNE
AT THE EURODOC SCREENING SESSION FROM 3RD - 7TH JUNE 2003.'
To all intents and purposes I had reached the end of my journey, instead, this next stage felt distinctly like a new beginning. My film 'Through Hell and High Water' had been selected to be shown at the Eurodoc screenings which seemed appropriate, as this first airing would be shared with the people instrumental in helping me get my idea off the page and onto celluloid. It has been a long, exciting journey and at times, fraught with difficulties, but this was a project that would not let me go. The story was destined to be told and three years later I have succeeded.
'Through Hell and High Water' is a
little known story from World War 11. The film is told through the poignant
love story of Nancy and Archie Kelly. Nancy, a young Norwegian lass and Archie,
a Scottish seaman (serving on the Russian Convoys), would not have met if
it had not been for a daring and unprecedented rescue carried out by the British
Navy. It is a remarkable true story that has amazing drama and is at times
painfully moving. The film's message is clear 'there is always hope in the
face of despair.' (Cont.

As I stepped of the plane at Cologne,
I experienced mixed emotions, elation that I had completed my first feature
documentary and a nervous anticipation at its imminent inaugural screening.
